The Portland Winterhawks fell 2-0 to the Edmonton Oil Kings Wednesday in Game 4 of the WHL Final. The series is tied 2-2 heading back to Portland for Game 5 Friday night at the Moda Center.
After a scoreless first period, Edmonton’s Mitch Moroz made it 1-0 at the 8:40 mark of the second period when he collected a puck that bounced off the end boards and back over the Hawks’ net onto his stick for the lone goal through 40 minutes.
The Oil Kings’ Curtis Lazar struck at the 6:17 mark of the third to give the home team at 2-0 lead. The Hawks generated a number of chances as they fought back, but Edmonton netminder Tristan Jarry preserved the home team’s 2-0 shutout win.
Corbin Boes was terrific in net for Portland, stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced. Jarry stopped all 26 shots he faced from the Hawks.
