"Bonnie" the Flemish Giant Rabbit Stolen from Her Home in Hosford-Abernathy Neighborhood - 07/03/13
The Portland Police Bureau is investigating the theft of a rabbit from a Southeast Portland home. "Bonnie," a Flemish Giant rabbit was stolen from her hutch outside a residence in the 2200 block of Southeast Woodward Street, sometime between 9:00 p.m. on June 27 and 8:00 a.m. on June 28, 2013.
"Bonnie" is described as a 19 pound white rabbit. "Bonnie" was not wearing the hoody at the time of the theft.
The victim told police that a few weeks prior to the theft, a woman claiming to be a "rabbit advocate" came to the door and offered her information on how to care for "Bonnie." At this time it is not known if this incident is in any way connected to the theft.
There is no suspect information on the person responsible for the theft. The victim has worked with the Oregon Humane Society to accept the rabbit from anyone who brings "Bonnie" in to the shelter, no questions asked.
Under Oregon law, theft of a companion animal is a Class C Felony.
