A standoff has lead to a homicide investigation in Northeast Portland.
Thursday afternoon, a man who had been stabbed went to a motel for help. His wounds were life threatening. When police went to the house where the man says the stabbing happened, the suspect refused to come out.
Negotiators eventually convinced the man to surrender to police and he was taken into custody. 47-year-old Wayne Nagahet is charged with murder and assault.
When officers searched the house they found a person dead. They have not said whether the person is a man or a woman.
Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are in the early stages of a homicide investigation.
The initial stabbing victim remains in critical condition.
