Around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a squirrel in a Beaverton PGE substation caused a power outage that spanned from Beaverton to Hillsboro.  9,600 customers were in the dark.

The outage included KPTV which left the studio anchors in the dark, because strong studio lights weren't working.  Engineers set up temporary lighting.

PGE worked to reroute power to get some electricity restored.

The outage left many traffic signals in the dark and that resulted in several minor crashes as drivers tried to negotiate the four way stops in major intersections.
