Oregon State Police are investigating an unconfirmed threat against Oregon State University. OSP will not reveal specific details of the threat but report it was posted on a blog and originated outside of the Pacific Northwest. The author of the threat has not been revealed and the message did not target individuals or name a campus location.

In response, security has been tightened on campus. OSP, the Corvallis Police Department, the Benton County Sheriff's Office and the Corvallis Fire Department are helping OSU Campus Safety monitor campus activities.

OSP learned of the threat before noon Thursday and issued an emergency alert to students, staff and OSU community members at 3:17 p.m. as a precaution, asking them to immediately report suspicious activity to campus safety, 503-737-3010.
