Rumors are swirling that, due to a Malcolm Young health issue, the band AC/DC is nearing a retirement announcement. This after recently announcing plans for a 40th anniversary album (to be recorded at a studio in Vancouver, B.C.) and tour.
There are few bands that have a legacy (much less a similar number of bonafide rock anthems) that comes even close to AC/DC. Even with the abundant catalog they've created for us, it'll still be hard not to miss hearing a collection of new AC/DC songs or looking forward to a show.
The band released a brief statement on their official website this morning:
"After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music."
