Stacey & Mike's Happy News: 7th Grader Saves Choking Friend

Thank you so much to Tawny in Hillsboro for sending this sweet story.

Ethan Williams and his friend, Bryce, were having lunch at school, like usual last week. Both are 12-year-old students in 7th grade. All of a sudden, Bryce began to choke on an apple. A few students quickly rushed to his side.

But no one really knew what to do…except Ethan. His own family and a sixth grade teacher both had taught him how to do the Heimlich maneuver. So without hesitation, Ethan started the process, which successfully dislodged the piece of food from his friend's throat. Bryce says that Ethan absolutely saved his life.

And his teacher says she’s so proud because he listened, he learned and he acted so fearlessly. Ethan wants more kids to learn the Heimlich because, as he says, when a friend needs you the most, you can be there for them.
