This holiday weekend, Metro is offering an alternative to the hectic shopping of “Black Friday,” with a reminder that all Metro parks and boat launches are open to the public on both Thanksgiving Day and Native American Heritage Day (the Friday after Thanksgiving).
As an added incentive, parking is free that Friday at all Metro parks that normally charge a parking fee: Oxbow Regional Park, Broughton Beach, M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp and Chinook Landing Marine Park.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet hike through the forest trails of Chehalem Ridge Nature Park or a family-friendly bird-watching expedition at Smith and Bybee Wetlands, there’s an outdoor adventure that’s the perfect fit for you and your loved ones. While all parks and boat ramps will be open, some services will be closed or have limited hours. On Thanksgiving Day, Glendoveer Golf Course will offer normal hours for tee times but the driving range and tennis courts will close early. The Oxbow Regional Park welcome center will be open regular hours both days.
