The Portland Police Bureau recently participated in a successful metro-wide Driving Under the Intoxicants enforcement mission. PPB joined with Oregon State Police, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Beaverton Police Department, Hillsboro Police Department and Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office to bring awareness to the dangers of driving while impaired.

Oregon State Police conducted enforcement for a full week, with PPB joining the focused efforts on the weekend, November 17 and November 18. In total, law enforcement conducted more than 950 traffic stops and made 31 DUII arrests. Though it was a DUII mission, law enforcement also cited drivers for other violations, including 453 for speed and 91 for distracted driving. In total, 45 arrests were made.

PPB would like to thank all the agencies who participated and supported the efforts of our Traffic Division. Driving while impaired kills. Plan ahead to have a sober driver, hire a ride or take public transit.
