Portland Firefighter Arrested

On April 15, 2026, the Portland Police Bureau's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit reviewed reports of a user initiating an inappropriate chat and sending sexually explicit content to a child in Deschutes County, Oregon dating back to October 2024.

The case was initiated in March of 2025 when the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office began investigating reports from a minor that an adult male had messaged her and sent inappropriate photographs. Through investigative practices, Detectives determined that at least some of them were sent from a Portland Fire & Rescue station in Northeast Portland and connected them to Portland Fire & Rescue firefighter Vincent Ramon Alvarez, 59, of Portland.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, PPB ICAC Detectives arrested Alvarez at his fire station where he works as a Lieutenant. He was interviewed and then booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Luring a Minor and Official Misconduct in the First Degree

The case number is 26-801571.

The Portland Police Bureau is grateful to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for their assistance.

This case is unrelated to a recent case involving a different Portland firefighter arrested just over two weeks ago.
