Kids of the 90's remember running home after school, powering up your huge and loud PC computer, just to log onto AIM and chat with your friends.
This morning AOL announced that AIM is officially retiring. With the advent of texting, Facebook Messenger, Kik, WhatsApp, and so many more chat services, we knew this day was coming. The big question was just WHEN. Personally, I can't even remember what email and password I used for my AIM account.
According to the AIM discontinued FAQ page AOL has no plans of creating a replacement product.
The last day of AIM's life will be December 15, 2017.
Shall we all have one last AIM chat session on December 15th?
