Why You Shouldn't Wash Your Face In The Shower

Ahhhh, K Beauty. I live and die by K Beauty products. If you are skin care obsessed like I am, you've probably heard of the wonders that is K Beauty. Every time I go to New York City, I head to Chinatown and LOAD UP on the products.

For those that haven't heard of this skin miracle, K Beauty is just simply Korean Beauty. AKA beauty products that are from Korea. The hot craze right now is the 10 step Korean skin system. I personally haven't tried the 10 step system, just simply because it's time consuming, and I know I won't keep up with it for longer than a week.

Personally I am OBSESSED with Tony Moly. His 'I'm Real' face masks are super popular in the United States. He also released a Pokemon makeup line that was only available in South Korea. OF COURSE I paid way too much money on mine and got the Pikachu blush and eye shadow palette, as well as the face mask line. The skin creams are harder to get a hold of, so those have yet to grace my Pokemon skin cabinet.

I've also talked extensively about my obsession with Mizon's Snail Face Cream. I wear it every night to bed. It keeps my acne away and keeps the face moisturized and fresh. It IS made with 92% snail extract, so once you can get over that fact, you'll be obsessed.

BuzzFeed staff writer Essence Gant recently spoke with Charlotte Cho, founder of Soko Glam and licensed New York City esthetician. They spoke about skin care regimes and Cho let us know we've been doing this one skin care step wrong.

Washing our faces in the shower. Cho advises AGAINST doing this common practice.

It's essentially for the same reason you shouldn't wash your hair every day, it strips the essential and natural oils in your skin. The only difference is that while you can still wash your hair in the shower a few times a week, you shouldn't wash your face in the shower EVER. The "hot water coming straight onto your face from the shower head can strip away your natural oils can leave your skin barrier weak, vulnerable and cracked" she told in a statement to BuzzFeed

She said that it doesn't matter when you wash your face, as long as you are gentle to your skin and washing with lukewarm water and not the hot water we take in our showers.

Time to change up that routine ladies! Your skin will thank you.
