With every new year comes with new trends. The trend we have decided to kick off 2018 with is, eating Tide Pods. Yes. EATING them. Tide pods, the laundry detergent.
The epidemic became so bad that Tide had to release a statement telling kids not to eat it.
When I was a kid we were shoving spoonfuls of cinnamon into our mouths, which felt dumb then. This though, takes it to a new level.
Celebrities have been taking to Twitter to warn teens against participating in the Tide Pod Challenge.
trump became president the same year people started eating tide pods— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) January 15, 2018
It would be great to get Trump to take the Tidepod challenge. Just tell him Obama did 4 in his mouth at once.— Paul Scheer (@paulscheer) January 15, 2018
The Tide Pod Challenge is extremely dangerous to teens and adults who decide to partake. Eating the Tide Pods can cause breathing issues after causing burns to the esophagus and airway. The health effects of ingesting the pods include severe vomiting, breathing trouble, falling into a coma, and rashes to the skin and eyes. More info on the health risks can be found at LiveScience.
If you think your child has ingested a tide pod call the poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
