Metal Fans Mistaken For Suicide Cult

Some metal fans took to the woods of Scotland for camping, and instead got mistaken for a suicide cult.

One of the campers is a teacher that also plays in a heavy metal band, and some of the group were donning their heavy metal makeup as they boated to the island to camp. David Henderson told BBC News that "We are just a group of friends who like to go wild camping, drink beer and listen to heavy metal music."

The group of friends had set up camp and were telling ghost stories when police, boats, helicopters, and a fire crew came to 'rescue' them. While on their way to the island, locals had believed them to be a suicide cult and called authorities to save them. Police smashed the windows of the vehicles parked at the shore, believing they would find a suicide note.

The ambushed the island, and after questioning adults about a possible kidnapping, they accounted for all the children. After concluding that all the children were accounted for and that no one was being held without consent, authorities left.

When asked about police raiding the site Henderson said that "They kind of made us feel as if we did something wrong, but when they realized we were just a bunch of good friends taking our kids on a heavy metal camping trip that was the end of it."
