Portland Ranked 8th Best City For Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and for a lot of couples it can be a really stressful day. From planning what you're going to do day of, to buying the gift, and the pressure to make the day special for your significant other.

In a report by Wallet Hub, Portland has been ranked the eighth best city to celebrate Valentine's Day in. The studied factors like price to celebrate Valentine's Day, available activities, your options to buy chocolates and flowers, as well as the weather forecast for the day of.

Portland ranked as the 13th most budget friendly city, fourth for available activities, 11th in gift accessibility, and 99th in weather. For the most part, Portland ranked in the top 15 for every category, except second to last for weather, where our neighbors up North in Seattle took the honors for worst weather day of.

WalletHub also released a bunch of key metrics for Valentine's Day with men, on average, spending about $196 for the day, and women spend half that, at an average of $100. Women are also 33% more likely than men to spend no money on Valentine's Day, while men are more likely to spend over $100 on gifting. Men are also 3x more likely to go into credit card debt over a Valentine's Day gift than women.

On average 9 billion people will be proposed to on Valentine's Day and $20.7 billion will be spent on the day total.
