Every year J.D. Powers ranks all the airports in the nation based on consumer satisfaction. The survey bases their metrics on six different factors including terminal facilities; airport accessibility; baggage claim; security check; check-in/baggage check; as well as food, beverage and retail,
The study then grades the airports on a 1,000 point total scale in three different categories of size, mega, large and average. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport ranks at the highest for mega airports, Portland International Airport for large and Indianapolis International for average.
For the seventh year in a row Portland ranks highest with 833 points total, tying for first with Indianapolis.
The lowest ranking airport is LaGuardia with a score of 662 and Newark following behind at 692.
