Andy is a 1 year, 7 month old, 69 lb Shepard mix. He’s a young, active boy and needs a special home. Andy is a handsome boy who loves to play and learn. He needs to find a home with a dog-experienced person who can continue working with him on his impulse control using the same positive reinforcement training methods we have used here at OHS.
Andy does best when he can stick to a routine and a predictable schedule. He needs a quiet, low traffic home and environment. He would thrive with someone who can keep Andy mentally and physically active. Andy has been part of the OHS running team and enjoys going out for leashed runs. He will not be able to go to the dog park, so leashed walks and playtime in your yard will help his be successful. We do not know if Andy has previously lived with cats or other small animals. He may do okay with another dog; however, his play style can get over the top and overwhelm a lot of dogs. If you have another dog, we will require a pet meet before you take Andy home. He gets very excited and could easily overwhelm a child, so we strongly encourage supervising his interactions with children.
