Who’s a good boy? Rusty’s a good boy! Rusty - Oregon Humane Society AND, he has a video! Rusty is a handsome 8 year old, 66 pound hound dog! Rusty is one smart dog. As you can see in his video, he knows sit and down, but that’s just the tip of the iceburg! This smarty pants also knows down, come, wait, heel, off, smell, find it, and let’s go! Since he’s a hound, it should be no surprise that his favorite thing to do is nose work and playing scent games. Yes, Rusty likes to use his nose! And, like most hounds, he’s also a talker. He does that big hound baying sound, so he might do best in a home without shared walls (though for the past 5 years he has lived in a home with shared walls). He’s house trained and can be left for up to 8 hours with no accidents. He’s also crate trained and really likes being in his crate. It’s a safe, cozy space for him. He lived with another dog for a while and did well. He was also a regular at the dog park and enjoyed his time there. However, he gets along with some dogs better than others so he’ll need to meet any potential canine companions before going home. If he does go to a home with another dog they’ll need to be fed separately as he has a tendency to ‘guard’ his food. He’s very reactive to cats and really want to chase them, so he needs to go to a cat-free home.
