Imagine for a moment a friendly dog who carries her favorite toy wherever she goes because this week we would love to tell you about a fabulously freckled lady named Marge - 5-year-old Marge is a slightly overweight 60 pound Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She enjoys belly rubs, snacks, meeting new people, and taking her stuffed toys on walks around the neighborhood.
Marge came to OHS through our Second Chance program where she was found as a stray. Although her history is a mystery, Marge does know some basic cues such as “sit” and “shake”. She seems to have had limited experiences with other dogs and for this reason Marge may never be a fan of off-leash dog parks, but she absolutely loves leisurely strolls in the company of her human friends. In fact, Marge’s polite leash manners and ease with new people have made her a favorite of the dog walking volunteers at OHS. As one volunteer said, "I had been hesitant to walk Marge because of her size, but she’s great on the leash. She walks at a calm steady pace and never pulls. I was fortunate to enjoy her company!”
Marge has a very short velveteen coat that is easy to clean, but it doesn’t offer her much protection from the elements. Judging by her love of dryer-fresh towels and warm blankets I think it’s safe to assume that Marge would enjoy a jacket on cold and rainy days. She is an affectionate snuggle companion and she has the low-energy level that is perfect for lazing around the house. Does Marge sound like your kinda gal? If so, please fill out the questionnaire at the bottom of her profile at Marge - Oregon Humane Society and someone will give you a call to tell you more about her.
