Tommy is looking for a German Shepherd knowledgeable person. He is a fun-loving, boy who loves spending time with his people and is a super cuddly lap dog! According to his foster Dad, he is very affectionate. He is potty trained, will come when called, play fetch, ride nicely in car and knows shake, Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Wait, Fetch and will get off furniture when asked.
Tommy, having led a sheltered life before coming to us, will struggle in a busy environment where he has to see a lot of other dogs, bicycles, cars and skateboarders etc. (like in an apartment, busy neighborhood or by a park). He becomes overstimulated by these things and will bark and lunge and pull towards people, dogs, cars, bicycles and basically any fast movements. Anxiety and fear are the underlying causes of these behaviors.
Tommy needs an adult-only home with a patient person who can appreciate and enjoy all his amazing qualities and have fun continuing training to help him with his anxieties. He also needs to find a home with a fully-fenced backyard in a quiet neighborhood, where he has daily opportunities to run and play fetch and go potty without having to go out on a walk. He would struggle in a home with a lot of hustle and bustle or one with young children, cats or other dogs. He’s looking for a home where he can be the one and only pet.

Inside the home he is a super cuddly 80lb lap dog, outside the house he needs a little more work on triggers. He is super food motivated and is super smart, he isn't food aggressive, but you can’t leave closed bags of chips on the counter because he WILL find it! He knows all the common commands whether he acts like it or not. He is a drool machine! As soon as you show him food the water works start flowing.
