Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96. According to statement by Buckingham Palace, the Queen passed away peacefully yesterday morning. She was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. There's a new phone app being developed that scientists hope can detect coronavirus. Dutch scientists say the app can detect COVID in someone's voice and is accurate about nine out of 10 times. It uses coughing, talking and deep breathing to figure it out. It's believed coronavirus impacts vocal cords. The app is still undergoing testing before becoming widely available. READ MORE.

Due to high winds and extreme fire conditions, PGE announced yesterday that they will initiate a public safety power shutoff for approximately 30,000 homes and businesses starting this morning. The preventative outages are a proactive measure to reduce risk of wildfire. Some areas are already being affected:

Mt. Hood Corridor and Foothills: 3-6 a.m.

Estacada 3-6 a.m.

Columbia River Gorge: 5-8 a.m.

Scott Mills: 5-8 a.m.

Oregon City 8-11 a.m.

Portland West Hills: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Tualatin Mountains: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Northwest Hills: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Central West Hills: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Southern West Hills: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
