Scientists have made a startling discovery on an island off the coast of Brazil… plastic rocks. These rocks are made of melted plastic intertwined with natural rocks and is believed to be coming mainly from fishing nets which means the garbage in the sea and the plastic ending up in the oceans is becoming geological material preserved in the Earth's geological records. Every year, Gallup puts out a "World Happiness Report," which ranks how people in more than 130 countries evaluate the quality of their lives to find the world's happiest countries. And for the sixth year in a row, Finland is #1. The rest of the Top 5 include Denmark, Iceland, Israel and The Netherlands. The US clocked in at #15 right behind Canada and Ireland. READ MORE.
Parking permits are back for those wanting to visit Multnomah Falls starting May 26th. The timed permits help to reduce congestion in the parking lot. They cost $2 and can be purchased online at recreation.gov. A limited number of free permits will be available at the Gateway to the Gorge Visitor Center in Troutdale.
